Home (The Foundation) - The Collection - Works by Other Artists
The Ernst Schwitters Collection assembled since 1980 encompasses over 100 works by avant-garde artists, particularly by those belonging to the Kurt Schwitters’s circle and Russian Constructivists. The collection includes pictures and sculptures by Kandinsky, Klee, Arp, Moholy-Nagy and Miró. It was first presented to the public in 1998 at the Sprengel Museum, Hanover in the exhibition and accompanying catalogue Das große Dadagluten. Die Sammlung Ernst Schwitters (The Fervour of Dada: The Ernst Schwitters Collection).
Beside the Ernst Schwitters Collection there are also a number of further works that were already owned by the family during Kurt Schwitters’s lifetime, mainly by Norwegian and English artists associated with Schwitters. They are supplemented by a few works by Scandinavian artists that came into the possession of the family after 1945 through Ernst Schwitters’s contacts
